It’s all about Creativity
Many consider Evelyn Bouma an icon in the World of UPHOLSTERY and INNOVATIVE INTERIOR DESIGN.
Her unique school CREATIVITY CLASSES is very well known not only in Ontario but also around Canada.
Evelyn stated "My classes are about being actively involved and making something for yourself . My students enjoy working together, exchanging ideas , sharing the passion of being creative and productive".
For over 4 decades Evelyn has been teaching upholstery techniques, sewing at all levels and lampshade-making – class which she developed and which has her own unique signature. Through her lampshade-making classes she brought renewed interest to the art of Victorian lampshade making. With her passion for creating-one-of-a-kind piece she passes her knowledge and experience to many students. Evelyn is the only one in GTA teaching this unique craft.
Evelyn is constantly researching the latest products, trends and techniques. Her latest passion is cork - and especially cork fabric.
She is extremely passion about creating unique pieces, researching history of furniture, fabrics, different techniques that can be used to achieve this one-of-a-kind look. Many of her students share this passion too.
Evelyn and her unique Creativity Classes is also regular contributor to the Creative Festival. As well as hosting a booth, she conducts workshops in many different subjects.
She also has introduced her Creativity Classes at the Haliburton School of The Arts. Her upholstery and lampshades workshops are always bringing a lot of interest.
Evelyn was born and educated in Holland. She studied fashion in France, England and North America. She got her furniture refinishing and upholstery degree at the Rotterdam University in Holland.
